Do It Like A Man

Dads, teach your sons about sexism. My 9-year-old son said this statement twice last week. It was said in a way that implied he could do something better because he was a “man.” My wife and I shut it down quickly and used it as a teaching opportunity, but it was a little shocking to see how sentiments like this can pop up so easily. It points to the culture that we still live in.

I’ll leave you with the same question I asked my son. Would you ever want someone to tell your mom or sister that she couldn’t do something just because she’s a girl?
