Initially, I used the paw glyph as the first 'e' in PetDuel, but in the end it looked like PotDuel, and the paw actually looked kinda like a certain leaf at small sizes...

So, I went back to the drawing board and decided the paw would work as the negative space within the 'P' in PetDuel. I'm a big fan of apps that only use their letter (Pandora, Facebook, Path, Groupon, etc), so I wanted this to fit nicely with my other top apps.

The font we use inside the app is Dosis by Pablo Impallari , so that's what's used here in the icon.
