Sankalpsinha.com > New Photos view toggle

Last year, during my 6-month sabbatical, I finally launched my photos page on my personal website. The idea behind it was to replicate Instagram and not be platform independent on Instagram for all my photos.

I love taking photos and sharing them on the internet but viewing them on a small smartphone screen on Instagram was another pain that I wanted to solve for. That's why I created my own photo page.

I started with a simple "Grid" view where it was a 3-column grid on desktop and 2-column on mobile. While this worked great for a start, I wanted to give a better & bigger way to view my photos.

One way was to view them in a modal, but modals usually suck in moving between photos. And also, working on a modal means more coding work, which means more delay in having a better view than a grid one.

A quick & dirty, but good alternative was to support "List" view, in which all photos will be shown in a big single-column layout - giving photos to shine on bigger screens like a laptop, tablet or iMacs/PCs.

Worked on the toggle a while back and releasing it today. Visitors can easily toggle between "Grid" & "List" view based on their preference.
