Automated JS Testing

Cypress.io is one of the leading automated testing tools for Javascript. I was brought on board to help redesign their Cloud experience. In addition to a Brand refresh, they were wanting to focus on quality of life improvements like a streamlined interface, mobile compatibility, and system theming.

I started my Discovery process with developer interviews. Talking with a dozen developers in different roles both internally and externally to learn how the different personas used our platform. From there I spoke extensively with our internal Engineering team to understand the architecture and capabilities of the platform to better understand the level of effort surrounding a complete redesign.

After speaking with Engineering and learning more about the product, I went into the Dashboard as a user and mind-mapped all of the existing components and their place in the process flow. I then doubled back to speak with Engineering at length to understand the reasons behind the choices they made in order to better understand and document any nuance I may not have immediately grasped as a "new user".

To reinforce my understanding of the product, I began to redesign individual components in isolation. I sought internal feedback from our internal design team from a rebrand / design system perspective, and from the engineering team to validate the expanded functionality.

Since we did not have established brand guidelines or design system it was asked that I mix and match content and color schemes in order to give product stakeholders options to choose from.

After going through the internal review, iteration, and approval process I then began to implement the components into my wireframes in order to better shape the data and transition from the wireframe to the mockup stage. These pages where built using different color palettes in order to further test device theming and potential design styles.
