Villa of the Papyri 🇮🇹

Hi 😉

I am pleased to present to you a large series of illustrations of legendary libraries of the world (real and fictional). The project was started in 2017 and was created for Glose.com.

Villa Papyrus

Italy 🇮🇹

The luxurious ancient Roman country villa was built around the 1st century BC. (area 2790 m²) and was buried under a layer of ash, along with Pompeii and Herculaneum, during the eruption of Vesuvius in 79.

The most impressive discovery of the villa is the unique private library (the only surviving library of Antiquity) of 1,800 scrolls of papyri with Greek texts, which were stacked in baskets and on the shelves of many rooms. Currently, the Papyri are stored in the National Library of Naples.

How do you like it? 💬😉
