The Giddy Mobile App

18 months ago I started a journey that, although I didn't know it at the time, would be incredibly challenging and even more rewarding. Here are a few highlights:

What is Giddy?

Giddy is a groundbreaking non-custodial, smart crypto wallet. Not only is it a place for users to safely store their crypto, but with the app you can buy, sell, swap, and even stake your crypto into DeFi protocols that enable users to earn yield on their crypto.

Additionally, Giddy created a private key technology that makes wallet recoverability as simple as resetting a password. As of today, that's unheard of, but Giddy did it, and it's one of the safest places to store and grow your crypto.

What was my role?

I was Giddy's first designer. I created their logo, and with the help of a couple other talented folks, I created their brand from the ground up.

The most challenging work, however, was to make complex processes like DeFi staking and wallet recoverability simple, so that anyone could do it. We adopted the phrase, "crypto for your grandma" as an unofficial tagline. It took more than a year to create a semi-polished product, but by the time my team and I were done, we had designed an easy-to-use mobile app that you can download today.

A deeper dive

The Giddy mobile app offers several valuable features. Users can:

1 - Browse and buy different cryptocurrencies on multiple networks

2 - Swap from one cryptocurrency to another

3 - Send their crypto to other wallets

4 - Stake crypto into earning pools

5 - Cash out their crypto.

A few of these flows are represented below.

Summing it up

Designing the Giddy app was truly a blast. In a little over a year's time, my team and I built an app with over 50 million dollars in transaction volume. We simplified a complicated staking process that used to take users up to 20 or more steps just to participate down to a single swipe.

All along the way, we did our best to deliver a visually stunning product with top notch illustrations and animations to help build user's trust.

Feel free to visit giddy.co to learn more, and try the app yourself!
