Big Picture Buy-In

I am the illustrator/graphic designer for a education sector magazine called schoolceo. I illustrate, layout and creatively direct the project to highlight the amazing on staff writers of the mag.

I am highlighting the article Big Picture Buy-In from 2023 vol. 6 issue 1 of the mag. I utilized blender to model the chess board and pieces. I then manipulated the colors using some custom gradient mapping. I then pulled it all into illustrator and placed my typography. I gave this design a fun halftone risograph poster printed look by creating separations with spectrolight and layering them back over using some different opacity settings before adding that vibrant poster paper lime green to complement the purple elements in the chess board. .The article was laid out in inDesign.
