OS Wars Background Info

OS Wars is an annual competition on Scratch where 3-5 teams build an OS on the website Scratch. Judges will decide at the end of the competition which OS has the best design, features, etc. It is hosted by different people each iteration. There were 9 iterations as of October 2023:

1) OS Wars 1 (DesignOS, BlendOS, SpyrOS)

2) OS Wars 2 (BlueOS, GreenOS, RedOS)

3) OS Wars 3 (BlueOS, GreenOS, RedOS)

4) OS Wars 4 (BlueOS, GreenOS, RedOS)

5) OS Wars 5 (BlueOS, GreenOS, RedOS, AmberOS)

6) OS Wars 6 (BlueOS, GreenOS, RedOS, OrangeOS, VioletOS [terminated early])

7) OS Wars 7 (BlueOS, GreenOS, RedOS, OrangeOS) (Ended early)

8) OS Wars 8 (BlueOS, GreenOS, RedOS) (Never started)

9) Wars X (No fixed teams)

Now that the entire structure of OS Wars was completely redone (even the name), me and a friend decided to start planning a new series of OS Wars, starting with fresh new branding.

The logo design of OS Wars is a power icon. The bottom semi-circle part of the power icon blends with an overlapping layout of the 4 team colors: Red, Blue, Orange, and Green (based off of the OS Wars 7 teams).

The teams are RedOS, BlueOS, GreenOS, and OrangeOS (based off of the OS Wars 7 teams). These also use the same structure of the OS Wars logo, except the line in the power icon is replaced with a design of a weapon.

The RedOS Sword symbolizes the swift, clean performance of an OS along with its long reach and reliability.

The BlueOS Spear symbolizes the sleek, simple design of an OS along with its power.

The GreenOS Trident symbolizes the usability and effectiveness of an OS along with its versatility.

The OrangeOS Axe symbolizes the multipurpose and power of an OS, along with multiple ways to perform a task (the two blades).
