Your Accessible Flight

Project idea

When planning a flight, people with limited mobility often face problems such as: being denied access to the aircraft, refusal of the airline to take their assistive device on board, loss or damage of the assistive device in the baggage compartment, as well as difficulties in finding rental points for assistive devices at the destination city.

Our app aids users in resolving these issues, enabling them to experience travel without the burden of stress.

Research

Competitor analysis

You can find the rules for transporting wheelchairs, scooters, and other assistive devices either on the airline's website or by calling the airline directly. There is no app available for checking personal wheelchair compatibility.
No apps were found for selecting and purchasing insurance, but services for purchasing such insurance do exist. Therefore, we can incorporate a service in our app for selecting a suitable insurance company.
Two apps from Scootaround company for renting assistive devices were found, but they only operate within North America.

Interviews

In-depth interviews were conducted with representatives from various target audiences - those who travel frequently or infrequently, those who travel alone or with assistants, those who fly for leisure or business trips, as well as athletes in active wheelchairs and parents of children with limited mobility.

After conducting the interviews, regardless of the respondents' personal backgrounds, they all shared similar pain points and consequently, the same goals for using the application.

Therefore, for scenario development, I chose the Jobs To Be Done format.
