Add Tax Rate
This is just a small slice of one aspect of Weebly's new eCommerce offerings, showing how to add a United States tax rate to your store's backend.
During the design process, taxes proved to be one of the most complicated aspects of the commerce platform—taxes are inherently pretty complicated, but the real trick was how to simplify the experience to something that was easy to understand while still being powerful enough to cover all the tax-related edge cases our users were sure to encounter.
Hopefully, most Weebly users who need to charge US taxes will just use the Automatic Tax Calculator, but if they have different tax requirements, they can edit the amount of tax charged to their customers all the way down to the ZIP code level.
This is also my first time using Principle to create an interactive prototype. I think I picked something a bit on the complicated side for my first foray into the program, but that probably suits the nature of the this shot anyway. Attached is the Mac App version of the prototype, if you want to click around and take a closer look at the flow (although not everything is clickable).
