Happy Losoong

Losoong is one of the most important festivals in Sikkim, which marks the conclusion of harvest season. The festival wards off the evil spirits of the year and welcomes good spirits for the New Year. It is celebrated all over Sikkim mostly by Bhutias, Lepchas and other tribal communities.
According to the Tibetan Calendar, it falls on the tenth Tibetan lunar month which is generally the month of December. During the festival, the popular Chaam dance is performed at monasteries symbolizing the elimination of evil spirits and welcoming good spirits. Archery competitions and carnivals also form an intrinsic part of the celebrations.
