Instead of spending tons of money at IKEA, I really enjoy building furniture for my home. It's not as hard as one might think, and you get to say that you've built a piece of furniture when someone asks where you got it from.

The hardest part for me is finding high quality plans to use if I don't feel like fiddling with SketchUp and coming up with my own plans. This is a quick app concept I put together and animated just to get the idea out there.
