Miami Beach - Minimal Maps

I once started to draw myself a minimalistic map of Miami. Mainly because I adore the city and the idea of bringing the 80s with a personal touch into my own home. Its uniqueness shows and guests always ask who did it - which makes me proud to tell.

It took a long time finishing this poster and it decorates my home for over 3 years now. I began to create more maps of cities that I'm personally interested in and it developed into a hobby of mine. I'll post my second map I finished in 2018 next week.

You can see a complete view of the poster on my website http://lucasdietrich.de

About the poster:

"Miami Beach - The Heart of the 80s

Miami. The name alone brings a flood of nostalgia-like feelings inside my mind. While being one of the most popular cities in the US today, its history is equally fascitating. Pale white beachs which spread along the whole coast and islands and the saturated sky seems unreal, like it‘s from another world.

It‘s best known for the 80s movement that spread all over the US and even in Europe. Beautifully painted sunsets hover over the Atlantic ocean - neon lights glow outside the houses of the famous Ocean Drive. An atmosphere that brought life into every human being. It‘s a city that truly never sleeps and never did in the past.

Many books, movies and musical masterpieces take this setting as an inspiration and contribute to its magic - with the stories they tell and the vibe they transport.

Miami can mean a lot of things.
For me it‘s not just a city. It‘s not a vacation or a dream.
It is what made me »me«."
