Invasive Species Poster

A few of our friends formed a design group where we give each other school like exercises to try new subjects, styles, or mediums. We meet each week to discuss progress, starting with sketches, final stage one and then the final piece.

For this particular poster, the prompt was to select something we felt was invading our quaint city of Asheville, such as tourists, hotels, the cost of living, etc. I decided to tackle the local weed population and list them out, both their typical street name as well as their scientific one. I had a lot of fun tackling this foliage and color palette, allowing the typography to shine through.

Now, back to weeding around our house :)
