The Merchant of Venice Poster Design - Shakespeare Artwork

This dark and moody poster was made for Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice.

A dark, translucent silhouette of a Venetian man is juxtaposed with painted textures of nightime river-water, and italian architecture that is illuminated by golden moonlight.

For the title I used a fat decorative serif typeface that I think works well against the classical imagery.
