Weirdtober 007/031: Illyana Rasputina aka Magik… aka Darkchilde, “You believe yourselves immune to death? I bring you a gospel of oblivion. I bring you the Soulsword. Taste it and cease to be.”
Yup, like I said on my first launch post, I’m still going to be illustrating my way through at least 31 one of these despite it not being October anymore. But, hey November has a “Ber” in it, so like same thing anyways. Maybe it’s like “Weird-To-Ber” so October, November, December! HA!
So I completely forgot about Magik’s Darkchilde look having horns! Duh! Geek-Nerd me is ashamed. But only for a quick sec 😁 Now I didn’t go full Darkchilde, just a little horny. [I’m so sorry, I really am, but it’s right there and I had to take the opportunity to say it.]
She’s holding a very mini-version of her soulsword, just for sake of everything to fit in one area. Chose to reference the larger more obnoxious one because why not?
Now I didn’t see The New Mutants yet. I know I can only expect so much from what I heard, but also, it’s a comic book movie. They’re not perfect. They’re gorgeous art panels and stories brought to life, sometimes poorly, sometimes fantastically. But take a second and appreciate how perfect Anya looks as Magik. Fantastic casting.
I was watching Alias in the background for some noise while drawing this, and I feel like she has some Jennifer Garner in her accidentally 😅
