Who are you?

Hello.

My name is Brett Stiles. I’m a designer, illustrator, and taco connoisseur based in Austin, Texas. In the past, I’ve worked as an antique dealer, furniture restorer, skateboarder, and advertising art director before planting my own flag.

The majority of my work is logo design, packaging, and illustration. When I’m not working, I still enjoy skateboarding and schooling hipsters on the Ping Pong table.

What are you working on?

Currently, I’m working on a few restaurant branding projects, logos, always logos, some beer packaging, as well as a personal stamp project — a unique stamp for each of the 50 states. That, and I’m forever updating my site.

Choose a favorite shot of yours. Why is it a favorite?

The Washington State stamp

A favorite shot, recently, is the stamp I created for Washington State. This self-initiated project, 50 Licks, has been a labor of love. It’s allowed me to showcase a variety of illustration styles, typography, and conceptual thinking — 39 states down, 11 to go.

Tell us about your setup. What tools did you use to create the shot (e.g. hardware, software, pens, paper, blowtorch)?

I have a small office in a live-work space I share with my furry friend Rudy. My tools are pens, pencils, spray paint, sketchpads, X-Acto knives, illustrator, photoshop, scanner, mouse and a homemade pair of brass knuckles for dim-witted clients. I’m a lefty but taught myself to use the Mac on a right-handed station. So, I draw with the right and sketch with the left, and drink beer with my feet.

Choose a favorite shot from another Player. Why do you dig it?

Good question. There are so many talented designers and shots on Dribble but I guess if I had to pick one I’d go with Bottle Logic — an outstanding piece of design by Emrich Office. The color, subject matter, and overall illustration are top-notch in my book.
